Why language Quality Assurance is important in translations?

In translation services when performing translation projects in a limited time you may notice the following problem. Some places contain extra space or extra letters or maybe even inconsistency in terminology. In these cases, we should perform language Quality Assurance (QA) to make sure that the translation corresponds to stylistic, linguistic, and formatting norms. After all, sometimes QA is important in translations and becomes the main criterion for why we start or stop working with the subcontracted language service providers (LSP).

There are two forms of language Quality Assurance: linguistic and formatting QA. Linguistic QA provides correcting mistakes connected with the inconsistency of terminology, punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Formating QA makes sure that the translation compiles with style guides and formatting norms of the target text.

You can make QA automatically via special functions in CAT tools like MemoQ and Trados, special QA-tools (Verifika, Xbench). Automatic translation QA usually looks for warnings (a difference in punctuation between the source and the target segment, a missing number, a missing or misplaced inline tag, or a missing translation, etc). And errors (tag inconsistency between the source and target segments). We check the quality of our translations using the Verifika QA tool because it has more options than automatic QA.

This is the priority of every LSP to perform translation services in perfect quality and reachable to the target audience!
